Share The Love

So over on my youtube channel I did the share the love tag that rxstrmom challenged everyone to do. I had a lot of people I wanted to mention but these are some of my favourite  smaller channels at the moment (&a couple bigger ones!). Below is a list of the people I mentioned please be sure to check them out if you don't already follow them as they are all enjoyable and fun the watch!

Lauren Stevens has both a beauty and a vlog channel.  She is always a delight to watch! She lives in Florida, has a tortoise that wanders into her backyard, bumps into peacocks on walks in her neighbourhood and I am sneakingly suspicious is actually a disney princess in disguise as when does that actually happen to non disney characters? Check her out for lighthearted vlogs and a minimilist style take on beauty.

Jessica Gibson from kaleidoscopes and polka dots is such a sweetheat! She does fashion, beauty, books, and other lifestyle type of videos and posts on her blog.  She is lovely to watch and super sweet so be sure to check her out and give her a follow!

Holly Harwood has an inspiring vintage fashion and beauty channel. She has also been known to throw an occasional daily style vlog in the mix. Her lookbooks are to die for if you enjoy vintage style clothing (she covers a variety of eras) and even for the fashion inept (ie. Me) she makes it look like something anyone could do with a bit of a knack! She often features pieces from tj maxx or other high street retailers but styling them in a vintage way!

Lynsey Macdonald is a Scottish youtuber who has a passion for tv and film. With a degree on the subject she really knows her stuff! She has a way of excellent gift for articulating a feeling about a show I had been struggling to put in to words. She also covers some beauty, books, &again, an occasional vlog shows up from time to time. Her channel has been growing over the summer and is well worth checking out!

Jameboyy is a UK based youtuber who has many different things on his channel. From daily vlogs, singing, product reviews, stories, and hauls he has something for everyone. I live his infectious verve and spark and if you love a good story teller check him out you will not be disappointed!

Mallory1712 is a beauty vlogger who has been doing this long enough to collect 60,000 plus subscribers! She is totally gorgeous and funny all while sharing a passion for makeup and beauty products that is guaranteed to make you want to go shopping! She had recently started doing weekly vlogs on Saturday with her husband Keegan where you get to see more of her life. Part of that is living with a rare auto immune disease and while she doesn't mention it in every video, I know that it can and does make everyday more of a struggle. I admire her persistence and perseverance to put out multiple videos every week and I thank her for putting that part of her life online which must be difficult at times.

Beautyosauros Lex is an American beauty vlogger who I have been watching for quite a while now.  Alex has a love of beauty but more importantly a love of life. She has a sense of humour that is sure to make you giggle at times. She has recently started vlogging her week and I must say that this has made me love her even more. I always am reminded of a slumber party when I watch as it just feels like a giant girly chat you don't want to end

Karen Kavett is a graphic designer who does some amazing craft videos!  Her most recent series which features everything you need to know about perticlar items is an excellent 101 series for beginners and more experienced crafters alike. I have learned so much and am sure I will refer to them for a long while to come when picking out supplies in the future!

Finally, we come to the end of my list with thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich.  She is a newer discovery for me but not for many others as she has over 125,000 subscribers! She is an artist who lives in Maine and has many different types of tutorials up on her channel in many different mediums. My favourite are her watercolour tutorials which are often in real time and have inspired me to dig out my old watercolour set which I actually had no idea how to use up until I started watching her videos which would partially explain why my results had always been so dubious.

I hope you enjoyed this little trip through youtube land with the share the love tag please watch my video and subscribe to my channel if you haven't already.

Let me know who some of your current favourite people are to watch?

I hope you are having a great week! Talk to you again soon!

Here's Lucy: The Complete Series Packaging Information

This information is referring to the Here's Lucy complete dvd box set released in 2014 by MPI home video.

Here's Lucy was an American sitcom which ran for 6 seasons between 1968 and 1974 starring Lucille Ball, her real life children: Lucie & Desi Jr, and Gale Gordon.  This was Lucy's second sitcom since I Love Lucy ended and followed The Lucy Show (also excellent).

I was a bit disappointed when I opened my box to find 3 of the dvd cases were cracked and/or broken. Although I suspect this was down to shipping issues it is still quite disappointing.  Lately I have had numerous items (dvds and books) arrive damaged. It appears that online companies have greatly reduced the protective packaging in recent years at the same time as the post office seems to be treating packages far rougher than previously.Annoying at best.

But anyways, each season of Here's Lucy is packaged in a standard size dvd case with the discs inside on flip holders rather than stacked and are easy to access.  On the back of each cover is basic episode information for that season.

The 6 seasons are housed in a cardboard box of very simple and lightweight design that is not going to take much (any) abuse.  The packaging could use a bit more work on this one and I think is only worth purchasing as a box set if you plan on buying all the seasons and is cheaper than buying the individuals when totaled together as this set offers nothing special beyond that.

I hope everyone is having a great day!

Leave it to Beaver Complete Box Set Packaging Information

Leave it to Beaver was an American family sitcom which aired for 6 seasons between 1957 and 1963. It starred Hugh Beaumont, Barbara Billingsly, Tony Dow, and Jerry Mathers as the Beaver.  Leave it to Beaver has been consistently popular in syndication since going off the air, and it could be argued that it was more popular in the years after it went off the air as it was never a top 30 show during it's original run but was popular and beloved enough in the 80's to see a revival with the original cast and picking up to see where their lives had taken them over 20 years later,

Here I am providing information for the complete box set released by Shout factory in 2010.

Each season is packaged in a standard width dvd case.  Discs are on the front and back cover and on flipper holders inside.  There is a separate booklet with the episode list and description inside each case.

A slimline case holds the bonus features disc and a board game (on poster style paper).  These cases are all contained in a nice box of sturdy and good weight cardboard to hold the cases required for the series.

Overall the packaging and production are excellent (as you can depend on from Shout!) and it is a well loved set set that has seen much use since it's purchase in 2010 but does not show it.

I hope this was helpful and that you are having a great day!

Cheers Complete Box Set Packaging Information

Cheers is an American sitcom which ran for 11 seasons in the 80's and 90's. It starred Ted Danson, Shelley Long, Kirstie Alley, John Ratzenberger, George Wendt, Rhea Perlman, Woody Harrelson, Kelsey Grammer and Nicolas Colasanto.

In this set they have split the series 1-6 and 7-11 which are respectively housed in large plastic containers (kind of like those pencil boxes from the 90's). Inside each one is a plastic insert that is similar to a book with one disc being held on each page.  You can easily flip through the discs to find what you are looking for and no discs are stacked on top of one another.

On the inner cover of each plastic box is a list of episodes and the disc they are on. Their are no episode descriptions but I am glad they at least included the episode  titles. As it is such a successful show it will not be difficult to find more information online if that is what you prefer.

These two plastic cases come housed in an exceptionally sturdy box that even has artwork on the inside!  This is something I haven't seen on a new set in quite some time and was a small touch that I really appreciated especially as the quality of everything else was also good.

The one thing I wish were different is the writing on the  disc itself. The discs are gray and silver and it can make them very difficult to read, a small irksome matter in an otherwise exemplary set!

From what I can see several other recent releases are also packaged like this.  It looks like Fraiser, Matlock, and McGyver (mcG definitely is as I have seen it) and I'm guessing others might be as well. But for now these are the ones I'm aware of.

Here is a video of me displaying the set 'in action' if you are interested!

I hope you are having an enjoyable day!

See you soon,

Annie.  x

Murder She Wrote Complete Box Set Packaging Info

Murder, She Wrote is a drama series that ran from 1984 -1996.  Starring Angela Lansbury the show ran for 12 seasons  with great success.  In the years since the twelveth series ended their have been 4 tv movies that aired on network tv.  Those movies are not included in this set.

Each of the  twelve seasons come packed  individually. They are in single width dvd cases with a flip holder inside so it is easy to access all of the discs.  On the interior cover is a list and brief description of the episodes included in that set.

The twelve seasons are packaged together in a cardboard box with one side open so you can easily get at each season.  The box itself is decent, although I would have appreciated something slightly heavier given the weight of the set from the shear number of seasons that it includes.  But overall, it is very good. If you are used to buying box sets I would say this is a middle of the road outer covering in terms of cardboard weight.  (although the finish on the exterior of the box, is much nicer than many sets I own)

It certainly is a beautiful set and if you enjoy murder she wrote or are looking to enjoy it for the first time it is definitely worth taking a look at!  Get ready to bask in the crime fighting ability of Jessica Fletcher played by the indomitable Angela Lansbury!!

I hope you are having a great day!

Crochet Project...Part 2 - My Year So Far

This is Part 2 of my post about the craft and crochet projects I have finished so far this year.  Part 1 has the blankets that I have made so far and this will include everything else.  Please take a peak at part 1 when you are done reading here.  They really don`t need to be read in order.  I hope you enjoy looking at these pictures. Let me know what your favourite is or any suggestions for what other projects I should try soon!

2 chicks egg cozies.  My first attempt at reading a written pattern and I couldn't be happier with how they turned out.  I will definitely be seeking out more patterns in general and more egg cozies to make in the future!

Slytherin inspired scarf and hat.  For my brother, hopefully he likes them and remembers asking me to make them (he is a bit the absent minded professor type) Otherwise it is just going to seem like I am giving him Harry Potter themed gifts out of the blue.

Ok, so these are actually knitted (rather than crocheted) scarves.  But I made them in January before I had started crocheting and thought I would include them.  I liked both of the yarns and will definitely be looking to use both types again although next time I think I will most likely be crocheting with them!

I`m missing pictures for the slippers (but they were better from a distance anyway. Take a look at the youtube video I made below that shows them, if you are interested!).
I also don`t have pictures for the items I ended up ripping out and I kinda wish I did.  Some things worked about them, but overall I felt it wasn`t worth proceeding with them or got done and it just didn`t work so I ripped up so I could reuse the yarn.

Thanks for reading and I hope you drop by again soon!

Have a fantastic day!
Annie

ps. here`s the youtube video where I talk a bit more about these projects and a few more.

Crochet Projects...Part 1- My Year So Far || August 2015

This is part 1 of the craft projects I have finished so far in 2015.  This post will focus on the blankets I have completed so far this year. Check out part 2 for all other types of projects I have been doing!
Scroll down if you are looking to see these projects in video form!

Crochet is a brand new hobby for me this year and I really am loving it!

My first project.  This went up so much easier and quicker than I thought it would.  I was really happy with how it turned out and the fact that it did turn out nicely really encouraged me to keep going!

A white baby blanket that is more than a little wonky was my next project.  I think this one may be improved slightly by blocking it as it should make the blocks more squared off and the join lines significantly straighter!

Cornflower blue and gold large square bedspread & pillow cover.  I imagine I am going to give this one away as a gift for sure.  I was already thinking about that when I was making it as there are several people who I think would like this colour combo!

My Fiesta or rather siesta inspired blanket.  I decided to try to see if I could use up some of the bits and pieces of yarn that were kicking around and planned to use black or white to try to tie them all together.  I ended up choosing the black as I felt like it made the colours pop that little bit extra!  I have been very happy with how it turned out! Although, I do need to get a move on and get the last third of it all joined together!

Heather green open web blanket.  This was my first time straying away from the granny square formula.  I really like how it turned out.  I think adding the border on the whole thing added a lot to the blanket looking more like a finished piece.

This fluffy white blanket is made of my favourite 'pooch' yarn in a stitch that crochets up super quick! If you ever need to make a gift in an afternoon this would be a great choice.  I think the speed and ease would hold true if you used a boucle or any other chunky weight yarn.  It really is the texture that makes this so forgiving to work on if you have small mistakes or tension problems. In my experience I think it is about finding the balance in the yarn where it will be forgiving of your errors but doesn't actually make it more difficult to do the project.  For me Pooch yarn does just that!

Watch for Part 2 which I will be posting tomorrow! It is full of all the other projects (that weren't blankets) that I have completed this year!

What is your favourite kind of yarn to crochet or knit with? or do you prefer a different kind of craft altogether? Let me know and that's for dropping by!

I hope you are having a fantastic day!
